At Affymax, we are leveraging our proven discovery platform to create a pipeline of peptide drugs. We plan to develop new drug candidates to targets already proven to be of important clinical value.
We are advancing two major indications for Hematidechronic renal failure and cancer, both of which represent multi-billion dollar markets. Currently, Hematide is entering Phase 3 clinical trials for the treatment of anemia associated with chronic renal failure and is in Phase 2 clinical trials for the treatment of anemia in cancer patients. In addition, we are investigating the development of Hematide analogs for tissue protection.
Affymax has active research projects for novel peptides that compete with the natural ligand for binding to target receptors. The activities of these peptides are being further characterized and optimized in our research labs. We are advancing research on a peptide-based agonist of the granulocyte colony stimulating factor receptor, and a peptide-based agonist of the keratinocyte growth factor receptor.
Affymax has a research collaboration with EntreMed for the synthesis and development of novel peptides that prevent blood vessel formation in tumors. |
